What We Are

A green award winning  "Earth Friendly" mountain lodge just 70 minutes north of Atlanta that creates less impact on the environment compared to other lodging. We provide a natural and cozy setting perfect for a relaxing weekend away from the kids, birthdays, anniversaries, vacations and enjoying nature.

What We're Not

We are not your grandparent's bed and breakfast- It's an inn with personality that makes a statement with its vivid exterior trim colors, beer bottle garden edging, wine bottle trees, peace flags, extensive permaculture gardens and eco-minded innkeepers.

The inn is popular among nature lovers, artists, college students, young professionals and the young at heart and provides a relaxing refuge from city life.

Not Your Typical Innkeepers

The innkeepers are bonified tree-huggers and permaculturists having planted over 300 trees and 30 varieties of edible plants on the property to encourage wildlife, provide food and reduce their carbon footprint. They also have a passion for living green.

Accommodations

When you arrive settle into one of our two cozy rooms with knotty white pine walls, queen size beds, private baths, and private entrances opening onto quiet patios. Or snuggle together year round in front of the simulated wood fireplace in the large second floor suite.

Or if you are the adventurous type and really enjoy the outdoors choose one of our two yurts (tent-like structures) where queen size beds and simulated wood stoves offer a "glamping" experience.

Wholesome Breakfastpermaculture vegetable garden

In the morning enjoy a  full breakfast  prepared with local pasture raised eggs, organic milk, veggies from our seasonal permaculture garden and other wholesome ingredients. Vegetarian always served, vegan, gluten free and other special diets with advanced notice.

Enjoy Outdoor Activities

The inn is located just five and a half miles north of the historic square and convenient to all the mountain attractions. The Appalachian Trail and other hiking areas are just minutes away. Amicalola Falls, DeSoto Falls and several other falls are nearby and offer scenic waterfalls and great hiking opportunities.

Enjoy nature with horseback riding or go kayaking, canoeing, or tubing down the Etowah or Chestatee Rivers.

Cool off with a swim in Dick's Creek. Mountain bike on rugged trails or road bike on the same mountainous route used by professional racers.

The area is also in the heart of the Georgia Wine Country. We are the closest inn to Wolf Mountain Winery.

Great restaurants are also nearby to satisfy any palate. Live music performance are also available at several venues. Visit the art galleries and quaint shops on the historic square.

Book your getaway today at Dahlonega's Only Green Bed and Breakfast.

Please Note: Adults Only (18 & Older). No smoking on property . No pets. We have a dog and cat.

Eco/Earth Friendly, Green Lodging
We are sensitive to the Earth we call home and the utilization and conservation of our natural resources. We offer an alternative that has less impact on the Earth's resources than other types of lodging while maintaining a comfortable environment. Visit Being Green for info.

While I booked my reservation for Cedar House Inn & Yurts I was a little worried about how we would be perceived, considering that we are both under 25 and college students. That was not the case at all. Mary Beth and Fred where so friendly and nice to us. Not just the owners, but the other guests were a joy during our wonderfully amazing vegetarian breakfast! (The meat eater I was with LOVED it too! Don't worry!) Holly from NC

A B&B With Personality
If you are looking for something more out of your bed & breakfast experience, then you have to visit Fred and Mary-Beth at Cedar House Inn & Yurts! They don't make you feel like just another guest, they make you feel like family! We really enjoyed their lively, intelligent conversation and wonderful, healthy home-cooked breakfasts. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to support a small family business or to anyone who wants to experience a unique eco-friendly B&B experience!
