What Guests Are Saying

While I booked my reservation for Cedar House Inn & Yurts I
was a little worried about how we would be perceived, considering that we are both under 25 and college students.

That was not the case at all. Mary Beth and Fred where so friendly and nice to us. Not just the owners, but the other guests were a joy during our wonderfully amazing vegetarian breakfast! (The meat eater I was with LOVED it too! Don't worry!)

A B&B With Personality

If you are looking for something more out of your bed & breakfast experience, then you have to visit Fred and Mary-Beth at Cedar House Inn & Yurts! They don't make you feel like just another guest, they make you feel like family!

We really enjoyed their lively, intelligent conversation and wonderful, healthy home-cooked breakfasts.

I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to support a small family business or to anyone who wants to experience a unique eco-friendly B&B
experience!

A marvelous gem of a bed and breakfast. Nestled sweetly in the mountains right above Dahlonega (easy five miles from... downtown), this place is a true wonder to visit. We loved everything about it from the quiet of the woods (we stayed cozily in the yurt) to scrumptiousness of the handmade breakfast and to the very friendly and eco-minded host. My girlfriend and I were greeted by Mary Beth and Fred, a couple of the sweetest people you will ever meet. They offered us refreshments immediately upon welcoming us into their home. Prices were fair, especially for the lovely atmosphere in which we found ourselves. In fact, my girlfriend and I were the only ones there! (My heart is in the yurt... I left it there) From the time we arrived until the time we left, we were treated as... though we were family by the hosts. Everything was perfect! However, after spending our first night in a yurt we found a surprising sense of tranquility and simplicity that we did not quite expect from what seemed at first, to be just a fancy tent in the woods. Since we live in West Atlanta, it's difficult to find a zen space to unwind completely and be at peace. Cedar Inn definitely was just that for us! Although we were sad to go back to reality, we are already planning our next stay!read more

I would give more stars if they were available ! I have stayed here probably 10 or 12 times, over the years. Fred and... Mary Beth are the BEST... great conversation (if you want to chat--or they leave you to it!)-- the beds are comfy, and the rooms clean and homey. Informal, clean, relaxing, interesting, restful. It is a great stop--- I recommend two nights, minimum, so you can get into Dahlonega for a tourist day, and maybe to a local winery. The breakfasts are the best ever--organic, vegetarian and Fred & Mary Beth walk the walk on eco-minded living. That, alone, is a fascinating conversation with them. The grounds are lush and homey... unpretentious and green. Gardens, trees, all inviting you to walk and slow down. They are up the road about 5 miles from Dahlonagha, so that is perfect. You can head north into the mountains and it is all breathtaking. The Inn is one of my absolute favorite travel stops and I go out of my way to visit and stay!!read more

Absolutely LOVE this place!!! Beautifully lush green grounds with wonderful pops of color throughout, coming from... either gorgeous flowering plants or amazing, colorful folk art. The hosts Fred and Mary Beth couldn’t have been more hospitable. Wonderful home cooked breakfasts served to you every morning, while you get to meet and talk with the other guests. Stellar conversation with both the hosts and the guests, but as much privacy as you want if that’s your preference. Two super cool yurts built on site, tucked away just inside the shelter of the trees. Perfect for either a romantic getaway or a silent retreat. If air conditioning is more your speed, there are also 3 rooms in the main house. We tried both during our stay. We loved both, and the experiences were very different in each. The entire place is eco friendly and run green, but if that’s not your gig, that’s fine too. They cater to everyone, but they love the planet and are happy to teach you about it if you are interested. I loved it, especially that virtually nothing is wasted here. They make beautiful art out of what others would consider trash, and it lends an air of magic to the entire place. I personally host two Airbnb’s, and I learned so much about hospitality from staying with Fred and Mary Beth. I cannot overstate how much you’re going to love this place if you choose to stay here! read more

Somehow we wound up in wonderful conversations with Mary Beth and Fred groups of guests and wound up sitting and chatting the morning away both mornings. The people were a diverse group and it was so enjoyable. We initially picked this place because of its proximity to Monteluce winery since we had planned a dinner there for our anniversary. •   I'm wrapping up my stay at Cedar House and I have to gush about it. The owners, Fred and Marybeth, made me feel absolutely at home. To take just one example, I have to leave very early tomorrow morning, and they've set out scones, fruit, and coffee for the road with a handwritten note.

I stayed in one of the rooms, which are wood-paneled, private, comfortable and cool. My room had a little private patio with a beautiful view of the stars at night. The breakfast was excellent (and Marybeth was sweet enough to make it for me even though I overslept my alarm and missed the time!) and I got to eat in their enclosed patio area, with a view of their back garden and a brief visit from their sweet and shy cat.

I loved every minute I spent here. If you're going to Dahlonega, stay in Cedar House Inn!

  •   The owners were very welcoming and I could tell they put a lot of care into the property and guest rooms/yurts and time into making our stay memorable. My wife and I spent two nights here for our babymoon. When we arrived Fred offered help with our belongings and once in the house, cookies, coffee and teas were offered even though it was past check-in. Mary Beth's fresh made breakfast was a superb way to start the morning. We could stay and talk or head out on our own but we chose to stay and hear everyone's stories over coffee. The property appeared natural even though the landscape was mostly bare when they purchased the property.  The atmosphere was relaxing and quiet. There are many options in nearby towns (Helen and Dahlonega) for food, gifts, and sightseeing.  We managed to see local art, history (gold mines!), restaurants, pottery, hiking, and of course wineries in the short amount of time we were there. Highly recommend!

  •   I was able to stay in one of the yurts this weekend and loved it! The rain poured down all night, and the following night was very windy, but I loved it all! The Inn is about 5 miles from town, so it is convenient. Be aware if you book a yurt that it is a bit steep ( and dark at night) to get to and from. There is a composting toilet in it ( it doesn’t smell or anything!), and the bathroom with shower is at the main house. No big deal. The yurt was comfy with flannel sheets on the bed, cozy, and clean. Fred and Mary Beth are fabulous hosts, and breakfast was yummy both days. I intend to return when things are green again!

  •   Fred and Mary Beth's place is a gem of a place in the Dahlonega area. They both are awesome hosts, super friendly and truly genuine people.
The yurt was perfect... Neatly furnished, adequately ventilated and the compost toilet in the yurt is there to remind us of the human impact on the climate.
The breakfast was delicious and sufficiently portioned out.
We would love to go back and visit.

  •   My 23 year old daughter and I have stayed in AirBnB accommodations all over the US and Europe, and as my daughter said as we traveled home "Mary Beth and Fred are the best hosts ever." Fred greeted us warmly in the driveway and offered to carry our bags up to the house, where we checked in. Mary Beth took us to our yurt and made us feel right at home.
We absolutely loved staying in the yurt. There is something wonderful about waking up in a round room! Sleeping there was so quiet and restful. There was a bit of chill in the morning, but the amazingly efficient heater warmed up the space in a matter of minutes. The bathhouse up at the house is spotlessly clean. We have nothing but super positive things to say about all aspects of Cedar House: warm, engaging hosts; very comfortable, clean space; delicious breakfast, and chai and treats in the evening. I wish I were there right now!

  •   Our hosts were very welcoming. The property was secluded but less than 10 minutes away from downtown which was nice. Everything matched our expectations and we had a wonderful time!

  •   My husband & I just stayed in Fred & Mary Beth's yurt at Ceder House Inn. They made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. When you get to the yurt, it feels like you're in the middle of the woods. The yurt itself is incredible. The outside looks deceiving. It is much bigger inside with a comfortable bed. The breakfast served to us was amazing. Everything fresh from their garden.

  •   The yurt was very cozy despite the cold weather (30ish degrees) and was more than accommodating for both my wife and I for a short weekend trip. The hosts were very kind and super knowledgeable about the area and things to do, although we already had a pretty solid plan. From the yurt it's about a 40 min. drive to Amicalola Falls State Park. Definitely a unique place to stay for a short trip.

  •   The yurt was very cozy and it had everything we would need for a weekend trip. The hosts are very professional and a delight to talk with. They made sure we had everything we needed during our stay and the breakfast that was included was amazing and even a healthy to get us off to a good day of exploring waterfalls and the wine country. We really enjoyed chatting with Fred and Mary Beth as well. Just a lovely stay!

  •   My girlfriend and I spent one night in a yurt, and it was a fantastic experience. Fred and Mary Beth were very welcoming. They offered great advice about the area, and provided a delicious breakfast with great conversation in the morning. The yurt was comfortable and accommodating. The experience was great overall, and I would highly recommend staying g here if you are looking for a unique experience.
